The Haworth Beer Festival will be breathing life back in to the Old School Rooms on Church Street in Haworth, raising funds for the Haworth church roof and a corporate charity auction for Manorlands Hospice. The festival is aiming to be an annual event, embracing the local community and visitors alike whilst tasting the fantastic local micro-breweries we have here on our doorstep. "The Great Yorkshire Micro Brewery Revolution" begins here !

The Old School Rooms are one of the most important historical buildings in the area. Built by Patrick Bronte in 1832 and taught at by all his famous children, the building is an integral part of the church and parsonage story. Still owned by the Church of England, the building has served the people of Haworth for over 170 years, originally as a Sunday School then a national school, being a focal of community life throughout. As well as conserving an extremely important heritage site, the charity Bronte Spirit is determined to allow public access to visitors and locals, and have achieved this via a number of heritage and arts events, as well as making it available for hire.

The The Haworth Beer Festival is being organised by local people who are passionate about making a difference. Born and bred Haworth lass Kathryn Thornton says “My family history has played a significant part in the making of Haworth and I have a lot to live up to, having an event to raise funds for the church roof and Manorlands means that we can also be part of that history leaving a strong legacy for the area”. Her great grandfather Jonas B. Thornton was a stonemason, listed in the "Roll of Honour" in Woodlands Lodge as a member who made the supreme sacrifice for the community, he built the Haworth Bandstand and park walls.

The festival will be showcasing local talent for the entertainment on the Friday and Saturday nights. During the day there will be light folk music alongside "Spin the Wheel of Fortune" and a large tombola hop barrel to win various interesting prizes. Local butcher John Ellison of Ellison Butchers, Cullingworth is proud to be the main food supplier for the Catering. Local volunteers including the over 18s Worth Valley Young Farmers will be putting their muscles to the test by pulling those pints for attendees.

The festival will run from 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. Friday 30th March 2012, 12 noon- 11 p.m. Saturday 31st March, 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday 1st April 2012
