Made world famous in the 1970s by the Batley Variety Club (a local nightclub which somehow managed to attract internationally famous stars such as Shirley Bassey), Batley is an industrial town located in the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire's Bronte Country.

Bronte related attractions in the area include Oakwell Hall in Birstall, and Red House in nearby Gomersal.
