Birstall

Birstall is a small town just adjacent to Batley in the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire's Bronte Country .

Bronte related attractions in the area include Oakwell Hall, and Red House in nearby Gomersal, as well as St Peter's Church, the Rydings and Brookroyd House in Birstall itself.

The town's other claim to fame is as the birthplace of Joseph Priestley, the English chemist who was the discoverer of oxygen.
