The museum had been closed following a fire in the adjacent Dalton Mills building, but following assessments the museum is now ready to admit visitors once again during specified opening times.

In the meantime a pair of peregrine falcons have been spotted nesting on the chimney of Dalton Mills, and a camera has been set up on the roof of the museum to observe the nest.
