Haworth 1940s Weekend will go ahead in 2012

After some uncertainty over the past weeks, the village of Haworth has announced that the 1940s weekend will be taking place in 2012. The event is now to be run a charitable event organised by the community in 2012 to raise funds for the charity Help for Heroes. An organising committee has been formed and is now in the process of organising various events and attractions to take place over the weekend.
Robin Jackson is the project manager for this year's gathering. “The committee are working in conjunction with various departments within Bradford Council to ensure that the event remains a success for the village and its visitors”.
Nikki Carroll from Firth’s Boutique will be planning all the daytime events, which include the popular evacuees procession, Winston Churchill addressing the crowd, street entertainment and even a visit from General Montgomery. Tickets will soon be on sale for the evening dances, which are held at the village community centre and sell out every year. This year vintage music comes from the Tony Greenwood Big Band and The Crown Top Kings. “We are so pleased that the fantastic 1940s weekend is happening this year after all. It’s the main event on the Haworth calendar and is much-loved by visitors and locals alike”.
