Participants sought for local Sue Ryder 10K

Fundraisers at Sue Ryder are encouraging people to sign up to the Keighley BigK 10K which will be held on Mothers’ Day, Sunday 10 March 2013 starting in Victoria Park, Keighley.
Last year the event attracted a record field of over 950 starters and raised over £49,000 for Sue Ryder. This year organisers hope to exceed the number of runners and walkers who will tread the multi terrain route through the town’s roads, paths and parks.
Sue Ryder events fundraiser Andrew Wood explained that there has already been a great deal of interest in the event which has in five years established itself as one of the area’s largest mass participation sporting events.
Andrew added, “We’re encouraging people to sign up early in case we reach our capacity and it is also in people’s interest to act quickly as the early bird adult entry rate is just £10 until 22 February when it rises to £12. As its our own event every penny is spent locally to provide our incredible care for people with incurable illness.”
As last year there is a corporate team entry which entails the entry of five participants to encourage businesses, clubs and organisations to enter one or more teams. Corporate teams benefit from a special reduced entry rate, receive mentions by the race commentator, be acknowledged on the event website and display their company banner within Victoria Park on the day.
The event as always is held on Mothers’ Day and organisers are asking people to run for or even with their mum. In keeping with tradition every mother who participates will receive a carnation as well as a goody bag and T-shirt as they cross the finishing line.
