Birstall

Birstall is a small town just adjacent to Batley in the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire's Bronte Country .

Bronte related buildings and places in the area include Oakwell Hall, and Red House in nearby Gomersal, as well as St Peter's Church, the Rydings and Brookroyd House in Birstall itself.

The town's other main claim to fame is as it having been the birthplace of Joseph Priestley, the English chemist who discoverered oxygen.
