Egypt
Egypt is a hamlet situated between the villages of Thornton and Allerton on the outskirts of Bradford.
The hamlet was once famous for its "Walls of Jericho" - two very high stone retaining walls between which the road from Allerton to Thornton cut through the hillside in a deep ravine. Concerns about safety and the possible collapse of the walls led to their removal in 1986, when the road was widened and landscaped on either side.
