Haworth Park bandstand officially opens

On Sunday 22nd June 2014 the new bandstand in Haworth Park was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford. Councillor Michael Gibbons.
Money for building the new bandstand was raised by a local community group, the Friends of Haworth Park, and it is expected that the new structure will provide a suitable venue for concerts - as well as being a focal point for activities in Haworth Park.
Although only "officially" opened in June the bandstand has already been used for events such as the Haworth 1940s weekend in May, and back in 2011 (prior to construction of the canopy) the bandstand site even hosted the "materialisation" of a police box (similar to that used as Dr Who's "Tardis") at the Haworth 1960s weekend festivities.
The official opening comes just two weeks before the Grand Depart of the Tour de France comes through the village, when Haworth Park. will host the Haworth Hub providing big screen viewing of the event, and supporting entertainment etc.
