A new art installation appears on Penistone Hill
A new artwork has appeared on Penistone Hill.
The 10m high installation - called simply "Tower" - is a work by the environmental artist Steve Messam which celebrates Bradford's historic association with the wool trade and has been commissioned as part of the city's tenure as UK Capital of Culture in 2025.
Clad in bales of wool, the structure is a prominent (but temporary) feature on Penistone Hill occupying a similar position to the Penistone Hill parsonage which was constructed there in 2016 (though like the film set it will be dismantled later in the year).

Other artworks which have been installed on Penistone Hill as part of the Capital of Culture project include "99 Butterflies" by Meherunnisa Asad, "Muamba Posy" by Vanessa da Silva and "The Children of Smokeless Fire" by Monira Al Qadira (pictured above) which comprises a series of cut out figures inspired by the Cottingley Fairies.
