Ashley Jackson plate to help raise church funds

A series of plates celebrating the Bronte Bell Chapel in the Brontes' birthplace village of Thornton on the outskirts of Bradford have been launched to help raise funds for the St. James' Church roof fund and the Bell Chapel itself.
Painted by the famous Yorkshire artist Ashley Jackson during a visit to Thornton to judge the Bronte Bell Chapel's 400th anniversary art festival.
Says Steve Stanworth (who helped organise the visit): "Ashley and His Wife Anne Came to Thornton St James on the 1st June and spent the evening with us. I showed them around the once neglected Bronte Bell Chapel, now restored and a place worthy of spending some time soaking up the history. Ashley was very impressed by the work of the volunteers and offered to come along and paint a picture of the scene, not only this we could charge people to watch. So on the 5th september we had over 50 in the audience to watch the watercolour picture take shape. It was a memorable day and we thank ashley for his time and generosity. The painting has been transferred onto a stunning fine bone china plate. This is a strictly limited edition of 360 items. We are selling these to raise funds for the St. James' Church roof fund and the Old Bell Chapel Action Group's equipment repairs."For more information or to buy one of the plates then please visit the Old Bell Chapel Action Group website at http://www.brontebellchapel.co.uk
