Whetstone Gate

Whetstone Gate on Rombalds Moor

Also known locally as "Keighley Gate", Whetstone Gate is a high vantage point on Rombald's Moor above East Morton and Micklethwaite.

Marked by a communications mast, Keighley Gate overlooks the industrial town of Keighley and the Aire Valley to the west, and the rural expanse of Ilkley Moor above Ilkley and Lower Wharfedale to the east.

The summit of the moor here is one of the very few places in the country where on a clear day no less than three of England's national parks can be seen from the same point - the Peak District to the south, the Yorkshire Dales to the north and the north west, and (in the very far distance) the Hambleton Hills on the edge of the North York Moors across the Vale of York to the north east.
